The Patriots site says the club has finally agreed to a deal with cornerback Asante SamuelSamuel.  Terms of the pact were not disclosed.  Samuel was designated as the team’s franchise player in February, but the 26-year-old out of Central Florida refused to show up to camp.  Samuel and Denver’s Champ Bailey tied for the NFL lead in interceptions with 10 apiece last season.  Over four NFL seasons, Samuel has 184 tackles, 63 passes defensed and three forced fumbles.  Meantime, the Pats placed wide receivers Troy Brown and Chad Jackson, as well as cornerback Eddie Jackson on the physically unable to perform list.  In addition, cornerback Mike Richardson was placed on the reserve/injured list, and offensive lineman Chris Patrick was released.
