Okay, let’s remember these games don’t count it’s only the pre-season {NFL Media Relations Directors get all hot and bothered if you call them exhibition games!} Patriots quarterback Tom Brady went 10-19 for 145 yards including a 28 yard touchdown pass to Wes Welker. But Brady was knocked around pretty good until he was pulled late in the first half and threw two interceptions and the Patriots lost to the Tennessee Titans 27-24 Friday night. Titans quarterback Vince Young was the victim of some tenacious defense on New England’s part. The player who was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year last season threw an anemic 5-17 for 102 yards. He also ran four times for a total of nine yards. Young’s last play of the game seemed to sum up his night aptly as he was stopped just short of the goal line.

Tennessee replaced Young with veteran Kerry Collins while the patriots countered with Matt Cassel. However the Patriots playing without wide receiver Randy Moss who was out with an upper leg injury. And New England also missed running back Laurence Maroney who is still recovering from should surgery during the off-season. Collins was able to rally Tennessee back from a 17-7 halftime deficit, and actually went ahead 24-17. But  the Patriots tied the game late in the fourth quarter as quarterback Matt Gutierrez had a two yard run into the end zone for a TD. Collins then led the Titans one more time down the field and John Vaughn won the game with a 22 yard field goal with 1:49 left on the clock. The loss leaves New England at 0-2 in the pre-season leaving veterans grumbling about the team needing to do a lot of work to get to where it wants to be at the start of the regular season.
